ENB’s cover of Warren Zevon’s “Excitable Boy” came up on my shuffle last night. It’s one of the handful of Elastic No-No Band recordings I feel like we didn’t 100% nail for whatever reason (maybe the arrangement? the mix?). But I am still an unabashed fan of John Mulcahy’s guitar solo that starts around the 2-minute mark.

(John’s band The Telethons has a new album which will hopefully drop sometime soon!)

Grammy-nominated visual artist, splendid musician, and good friend Peter Nevins has posted a collection of handbills and flyers he created for a nightly acoustic show he curated at a bar in Brooklyn back in the ’00s.

I’ve highlighted the Weemayk Music artists here, but you can check out the full archive on Peter’s site right over here!

Once again, that is a wonderful suggestion, Spotify. Don’t mind if I do.(Also, check out 7” record version here: "I Kicked Cancer’s Ass")

I am moving out of the apartment on Myrtle Ave. in Brooklyn which has been my home and the headquarters of Weemayk Music for about 7 years.

For the next week or so, I will be sharing videos and songs created in this apartment under the tag “Myrtle Memories.”

Myrtle Memory #14: “Divorce Man” music video

"Divorce Man" is not just the direct sequel to "Dyslexic Youth,” this surrealistic romp is also the most elaborate no-budget video production attempted within the walls of my apartment.

It features a number of cameos from splendid artists and musicians, such as members of Blurple, The Telethons, Elastic No-No Band, Brook Pridemore, and Kung Fu Crimewave.

And lest I forget: New York’s finest subway musician, Joe Crow Ryan, is in the lead role.

Myrtle Memory #5: “Please Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful” by Joe Crow Ryan

This brief a cappella track by Joe Crow Ryan was recorded by former roommate/Telethons drummer Doug Johnson during one of the handful of musical house shows we had at the apartment.
